.: Limestone Mining for A New Coach
Gaffney, SC , July 10th, 2008
Limestone College Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach Allen Gilchrest. Gilchrest was named head coach for the Saints in April 2007 after serving as an assistant coach during the 2006-07 season. Under Gilchrest’s direction, the women’s swim team ended the 2007-08 season ranked No. 17 in NCAA Division II, and was named an Academic All-American team. One swimmer was an All-American while 11 swimmers earned All-Conference honors.
Gilchrest led the Aqua Saints to their best season in program history. The men’s 200 freestyle relay team won the program’s first national title in program history, and finished the 2007-08 season ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II. Twenty-nine swimmers earned All-American honors and the squad was named an Academic All-American team.
Limestone College will begin a nationwide search for a head men’s and women’s swimming coach immediately.
