Kansas Raises Money For Breast Cancer Awareness At This Week's Meets

While the majority of the focus at the Robinson Natatorium in Lawrence, Kan., is going to be the on competition, something else will be on the mind's of the competitors and spectators.

As part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Kansas is collecting at money at a pair of meets this weekend. Kansas officials will be collecting donations at the gates of both meets as well as the gates of the Baylor-Kansas soccer game on Sunday. They will also be selling pink ribbons for purchase to place on the wall of the natatorium during this week’s meets. The money raised will be donated to The Breast Center at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and the KU Cancer Center.

On Thursday, the Jayhawks will face Texas A&M and Missouri at 6 p.m. Texas A&M's women's team is ninth while its men's squad is 17th. Missouri is ranked 18th on the women's side and 20th in the men's poll. Then on Friday the Jawhawks will play host to the entire confernce during the Big 12 Relays.

The Aggies will swim in pink swim caps during both meets to help raise both awareness and money for breast cancer.
