Northwest Conference Swimming
Men: Lewis & Clark 124.5, Pacific 73.5
Women: Lewis & Clark 111, Pacific 76
Allison Clark (Fr., Keizer, Ore.) broke two more school records and Nicole Koch (Fr., Longmont, Colo.) broke one, while Brandan Mantei (Jr., Canby, Ore.) won three events as Pacific dropped a pair of Northwest Conference swimming duals to Lewis & Clark Friday at the Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion.
Clark lowered her own record in the 200-yard individual medley, shaving one second off to win the event in a time of 2:14.73. She then came back to win the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:35.84, eclipsing the record of 2:36.03 set by Alex Prigge in 2006. Koch, meanwhile, reset her own school record in the 200-yard butterfly with her second place time of 2:24.80.
The efforts led Pacific in a loss on the team side for the women against a good Lewis & Clark team, falling 111-76. The Pioneers won seven of nine individual events and the 400-yard freestyle relay to improve to 1-1 on the season. Pacific fell to 0-3 in dual meets.
Pacific's other women's win came in the 400-yard medley relay where the team of Eileen Bringman (Jr., Cleveland, Ohio), Clark, Koch and Cherice Cochrane (So., Beaverton, Ore.) swam to a finish of 4:22.34.
Mantei, meanwhile, paced the Pacific men with a trio of victories. After opening the night with a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:40.79, Mantei went on to win the 100-yard freestyle in 50.04 seconds and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:21.27, just missing the school record by .10 seconds.
Despite winning five of the nine individual events, Pacific could not keep up with the Pioneers' numbers in the team race and lost by a score of 124.5 to 73.5. Lewis & Clark improved to 2-0 in duals, while the Boxers fell to 0-3.
Dylan Cramer (Fr., Keizer, Ore.) also won two events for the Boxers, capturing the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.78 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:05.48.
Pacific returns to action next weekend when they take part in their first invitational of the season, swimming in the Northwest Invitational next Saturday and Sunday in Portland.
