Seven different members of the Navy men’s swimming team won individual events to help the Mids to a 145-115 victory over Johns Hopkins, Friday night at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis. The victory improves Navy’s record to 3-0 on the season.“I felt as if there were some improvements from last week to tonight in how we raced,” said Navy men’s swimming head coach Bill Roberts. “After the good week of training we had I was pleased with the results. We’ll get back at it and keep charging ahead.”
Four different juniors picked up individual event wins during the course of the meet. Sam Martinette (Richmond, Va.) won the 800 freestyle in a time of 8:17.92, Erik Hunter (Placerville, Calif.) won the 400 individual medley with clocking of 4:27.92 and J.J. Helms (Conroe, Texas) posted a time of 1:56.39 to win the 200 freestyle. Additionally, junior Alex Buck (Lisle, Ill.) and sophomore Marshall Daniels (Virginia Beach, Va.) tied for the win in the 50 freestyle with identical times of 24.20, while sophomore Mac Anthony (Allentown, Pa.) emerged with the win in the 400 free with a time of 4:01.49.
