Beck, Godsoe Lead National Swimmer Honors

Somers, WI , October 20th, 2009           
A school record combined with a NCAA "B" time for Mary Beck (LSU) and a NCAA "B" time for Eugene Godsoe (Stanford) earned the pair the Counsilman Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week Honors.  Also earning the award were Julie Widmann (Ashland University), Laura Barito (Stevens Institute of Technology), and Stephen Clendenin (University of Mary Washington).  The five won the award based on their performances for the week of October 12-18.

Beck

Division I Women
Mary Beck, Louisiana State University
Beck (Austin, TX)
had three wins in the Tigers' 130-170 dual meet loss to the University of Tennessee.  The sophomore won the 200 backstroke (157.45, school record and NCAA "B" time), the 200 individual medley (2:01.77, NCAA"B" time and second fastest in school history) and the 200 freestyle (1:50.03).

Division I MenGodsoe
Eugene odsoe, Stanford University
Godsoe (Greensboro, NC)
had two wins at the TYR Pacific Invitational; the 100 backstroke (48.44, NCAA "B" time) and the 200 backstroke (1:47.40).  The All-American also swam on the Cardinal's second place 800 freestyle relay (6:49.31) and the third place 200 freestyle relay (1:24.19). 
 

Division II WomenWidmann
Julie Widmann, Ashland University
Widmann (Littleton, CO)
had one win in Ashland's 122-117 victory over Findlay and one win in the Ashland's double dual sweep of Hillsdale (147-82) and Malone (194-82).  The freshman won the 200 freestyle (1:58.04) and the 200 backstroke (2:09.41).  Widmann also contributed on the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:38.26, Lead off 52.34 NCAA "B" time"), the winning 400 medley relay (4:00.65), the winning 200 medley relay (1:51.93) and the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:40.47). 

Division II Men

Division III WomenBarito
Laura Barito, Stevens Institute of Technology
Barito (Arkadelphia, AR)
had two wins in Stevens' 142-111 victory over Montclair; the 50 freestyle (24.60) and the 100 freestyle (53.97).  The junior also assisted on the winning 200 medley relay (1:53.94).
 
 

Division III Men  Clendenin
Stephen Clendenin,  University of Mary Washington
Clendenin (Ashburn, VA)
won two events as UMW topped Washington & Lee (146-116) for the first time.  The junior won the 200 butterfly (1:58.29), the 200 individual medley (1:59.98) and swam to a second place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:59.11).  Clendenin also swim on the winning 200 medley relay (1:38.58).
