Wayne State Wins Five of Six in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. , October 24th, 2009           

Day Two Women:

The Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team finished the second day of competition at the University of Indianapolis ahead of all three of its opponents in a four-team showdown at the Ruth Lilly Center.

The Warriors defeated their GLIAC rivals Ashland (152-90) and the host Greyhounds (155-82), and overcame Friday's 106-85 deficit to Truman State to defeat the Bulldogs, 136-101.

Wayne State swimmers added five NCAA B cuts on Saturday, bringing its weekend total to 10.  In addition, diver Cassie Chetosky (Shelby Twp., Mich./Utica) qualified for nationals on both the one-meter (275.25) and three-meter (270.40) boards.

Day Two Men:

The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team came out of Saturday's second day of competition at the University of Indianapolis in front of two schools in the four-team meet at the Ruth Lilly Center.

Wayne State split against its GLIAC foes, losing to Ashland (131-110) and defeating the host Greyhounds (147-94).  The Warriors also upended Truman State (159-78).

Jimmy Lee (Windsor, Ont./Riverside) won two individual events and earned NCAA B qualifiers in both with times of 1:56.27 in the 200 individual medley and 1:54.40 in the 200 butterfly.  Lee also swam the third leg of the third-place 200 medley relay (1:39.04) with Cauli Bedran (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Matt Victor (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay), and Justin Shields (Chesterfield, Mich./Anchor Bay).

Day One Women:

In its first competition of the 2009-10 season, the Wayne State University women's swimming and diving team came out ahead of two of its three opponents at the University of Indianapolis following Friday's events.

Wayne State leads Ashland, 114-78, and the host Greyhounds, 99-93.  Truman State holds a 106-85 advantage over the Warriors.


Day One Men:

The Wayne State University men's swimming and diving team is ahead of one of its three opposing teams after the first day of competition at the University of Indianapolis quad meet on Friday.

Wayne State leads Truman State, 110-80, but is trailing Indianapolis (103-87) and Ashland (111-79).
