IWU Men Sweep, Women Split
Bloomington, IN , October 31st, 2009
The Illinois Wesleyan women's swmming and diving team defeated
Rose-Hulman, 95-37 while the men's team beat Rose-Hulman, 70-65 and
lost to Wabash, 96-42, in a triangular meet at IWU's Fort Natatorium on
Saturday, Oct. 31.
Freshman Tara Gracer was a three-time individual winner for the Titans,
taking the 100 and 200 breaststroke events and the 200 individual
medley. She also swam a leg on a first place relay team. Freshman Katie
McHugh won two individual events and was part of two winning relay
teams, sophomore Angela Lugg won two solo events and was on one winning
relay team and diver Lindsey DeSutter was a two-event winner. McHugh
claimed first in the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle and Lugg won the
100 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
DeSutter was the winner of both the 1- and 3-meter diving events.
Freshman Alex Brinkmeier (50 freestyle) and freshman Melissa Graffy
(200 freestyle) were also winners and Graffy was on both winning relay
teams.

For the men, Mike Kozak was a dual winner, getting first in the 100 and
200 butterfly. Mike Firth got first in the 100 backstroke and Chris
Betzle swam to a first place finish in the 500 freestyle.
