Team Unify Comes on As Title Sponsor

December 7, 2015 - Somers, WI - A pair of NCAA Champions, both named Smith, highlight the Team Unify / CollegeSwimming.com Swimmers-of-the-Week for November 30-December 6.. 

At the Texas Swimming Hall-of-Fame Invite, Texas' Clark Smith smashed the NCAA, American and US Open Record in the 1000-yard freestyle en-route to the Longhorns' second-straight national honor.  Meanwhile Virginia's Leah Smith was named Division I Female Swimmer-of-the-Week.  She posted the nation's top time in the 1650-yard freestyle, besting 2014 NCAA Champion Brittany MacLean.

In Division II, Drury's Xu Wen, picked up three wins against Division I opponents at the Hawkeye Invitational while Grand Valley's Gianni Ferrero went four-for-four at the Calvin Invitational.  The pair earned Division II Swimmer-of-the-Week Honors.  Divisioin III honors went to Keene State's Allison Bartlet and Johns Hopkins' Andrew Greenhalgh.  The pair lead the nation in the 50 and 500 freestyle respectively. 

Final awards went to Rosalee Santa Ana (Azuza Pacific) and Clay Copland (Point University) in NAIA.  Carolyn Ives (South Georgia) and Thomas Kappe (Iowa Central) rounded out this week's national honors as the NJCAA Swimmers-of-the-Week.

In related news, CollegeSwimming.com has announced that TeamUnify has come on board as the Swimmer-of-the-Week title sponsor.  "Tim (LaRoche, TeamUnify's Manager of Sales and Support) approached us with a desire to showcase their new MainSet workout management software," explained CollegeSwimming.com President Greg Earhart.  "It is impressive, very impressive, and after taking a look we wanted to find a way to help coaches learn about it. 

In addition to the ten National Swimmers-of-the-Week, 123 swimmers were selected by CollegeSwimming.com as Swimmers-of-the-Week for their respective conferences.  These selections are separate from selections made by each conference.

Selection Criteria

 

  • Weekly results submitted to CollegeSwimming.com each Monday morning by 8:00 AM EST
  • The number of individual and relay event wins in a given weekend
  • The strength of each swim (using CollegeSwimming.com's Point Values)
  • Team outcome (i.e. win or loss)
